A Message From The President...... At our First Quarter State Board Meeting, I heard a great line that summarizes my thoughts for this month: “You can’t become a leader sitting at home on your computer.” If you are reading this, you already know that is the case. But lets take it a little further. What does it take to become a better leader? Because you are a Jaycee, you have many opportunities to become a leader. This can start by simply stepping outside your comfort zone and joining a chapter. Then taking part in making a project happen forces one to learn leadership skills. Then you agree to chair a project after you swore you would never take on that responsibility and flirt with the chance of failing. And, if you have been doing this long enough, you do chair a project that flops. And guess what, that needs to happen in order to learn even more leadership skills. I suppose it is a Jaycee rite of passage to be in charge of a project that looses money when it was supposed to be a fundraiser. The bottom line is none of this can happen if you do not get out there and make connections with your chapter, your community and other Jaycee chapters. READ MORE...... |
